It was great to visit handicraft training and production center at Kalapugama. Most of the people engaged in the center are aged over 60 years. This is a great place to enhance their skills and earn income to strengthen their livelihood. I think we need more places like this in urban and suburban areas to develop communities and encourage creativity. An important factor is that these places should be created more to disseminate skills from adults to youngsters. They have created many elegant mats and other reed crafts in cheap prices.
